Book Review: Let’s Get Lost by Adi Alsaid

Hey guys! I’m back with a book review finally. It’s been awhile..I kind of slacked off a bit with my reading but I’m back on the train for a little while again. Today, I’m going to share my opinion on Let’s Get Lost by Adi Alsaid.

Now, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve read this but I remember a good portion of this book..bare with me.

It starts off with us meeting a girl named Lelia. She has basically runaway from home for the summer and is going on a road-trip to see the northern lights. Along the way she meets 4 different people all in different scenarios but she comes to them right in their time of need.

She first meets Hudson. He works with his dad as a mechanic. Lelia ends up needing work done on her car when she winds up at Hudson’s shop. He gets working on her car, turns out liking her and talks her into letting him show her around Vicksburg, Mississippi..all night. Well, Hudson was suppose to be studying all night for college interview but that change when he was late the next morning. That left Lelia and Hudson on bad terms and she left.

Next, she met Bree. Bree was walking down the side of a highway basically running away from home as well. Lelia stopped her car and let Bree in. Lelia learned that Bree was having a rocky relationship with her sister and wanted to get away. Leila and Bree ended up doing very risky things and one landed them in jail. The only way for them to get bailed out was for Bree to call her sister. Peace was finally made and Lelia continued on her journey to the northern lights.

While driving through Minneapolis, Lelia came upon a figure in the middle of the road and nearly hit them. That’s when she met Elliot. He was going through rough time with a girl at prom. Him and Lelia ended up running all over town trying to track this girl down so Elliot could sing a song and confess his love to her..but it ended up turning all bad.

On her last stop, she met Sonia. This was a crazy adventure here. Sonia was sorta dating a guy named Jeremiah..but it was all a secret because she didn’t want her old boyfriend named Sam, family to be upset (he passed away). Sonia was suppose to be attending a wedding that her boyfriend was in..along with Sam’s sister. Sonia went to runaway from the wedding that’s when Lelia met her. Lelia and her were driving away..a long ways away back to the US from Canada..she was wearing Jeremiah’s tuxedo and the rings were in there. Leila and Sonia had to go back to Canada but neither had passports! They ended up getting there through a series of events..that ended up with Sonia & Jeremiah being able to be together after all.

Finally, after all the stops and friends that Lelia had met she made it to her destination. She went to a campground where she met another family that made her feel comfortable while being there. They had a daughter named Dee..she got real close with Lelia and they threw Lelia a birthday party because Lelia never remembered having one (her parents and sister both died in an accident). Dee got frustrated after the birthday party because it didn’t bring any memories back for Lelia and she ran away. After they found Dee..she pointed up and there were the northern lights, just for Lelia.

I really enjoyed this book and I was in tune the entire time! It was so hard to put down.

Week 12: Stripes – #31DC2017Weekly

Hey guys! I’m on the correct week for the #31DC2017Weekly manicure challenge, this week was stripes. I was really excited to do this weeks because I recently found stamping plates at Walmart so I picked them up. They are from the brand Pueen, You can buy the stamping kit which I did and get a stamping plate, stamper, scraper, and two polishes. I also bought one other plate that they had separately too.

I started off by painting my nails in No Place Like Chrome by Essie. I love this silver, it’s very opaque which is nice.

Next, I used the black polish that came with the stamping kit and attempt to stamp chevron stripes. I’m just a very beginner so they are not near good, but good for a very beginner! I’m happy with them and after some practice and playing around I’ll get better.

If your have any real good tips for stamping, I would love hear them and try them! What’s your thoughts on this manicure?

Week 11: Polka-Dots – #31DC2017Weekly

Hi guys! I’m back for my last week of catch up on the #31DC2017Weekly manicure challenge! After this post, I will be on the correct week as everyone else doing this challenge…this week was Polka-Dots.

I started off using Rise & Shine by Sinful Colors. I rarely use this color for some use but I think it’s very pretty and right up my alley. It does have some blue/green shimmer to it too.

For the polka-dots, I decided to go in a pattern instead of all over. I used to different sized dotting tools for the look. Colors I used were: French White Creme by Wet n Wild & Gold Medal by Sinful Colors.

This manicure looked great until I put a top coat on. I guess I didn’t give it long enough to dry and I got texture marks on them.

Overall, I looked the way it looked besides the texture marks and smudges which are a bummer. What’s your thoughts on this manicure?

Week 10: Gradient Nails -#31DC2017Weekly

Hey guys! It’s been almost a week since I have posted but I’m back for Week 10 of the #31DC2017Weekly manicure challenge..I will be caught up hopefully at the end of this week, finally!

I started off my painting all my nails using Petal Pushers by Essie. I typically don’t reach for my Essie polishes anymore but I’m trying to start again. I love this gray color because at times it has a purplish hue.

I’ve only done a gradient look a few times so this was a little tricky..even though it looks easy. I wanted to go for sunset colors so I used: YOLO Yellow by Sinful Colors, Lounge Lover by Essie, & Lavender Creme by Wet n Wild. I had to reapply several times..because I should have used white base! I wasn’t thinking very clear at all with this manicure.

I think it still looks great being that I’ve only done it a few times and could still use practice! What’s your thoughts?

Week 9: Rainbow Nails – #31DC2017Weekly

Hey guys! I’m back for this weeks #31DC2017Weekly manicure challenge..this week the theme is Rainbow nails. I normally don’t do rainbows..I tend to use a lot of colors but never rainbow themed. I was inspired this week by a manicure I did years ago when I was first adventuring into nail art. It turned out a really well for not having a lot of experience with dotting tools or nail stripers. I did a cupcake manicure..here’s the picture.

So for this weeks manicure I decided to do pink nails with colorful polka-dots. I used Pink Velvet by Sinful Colors for my base color..it’s just a pretty medium pink with texture. The downsize for this polish was it chipped easily. For the polka dots, I used Purple POP! by Salon Perfect, YOLO Yellow, Mint Chip, and Candy Heart all by Sinful Colors.

Sorry for the picture quality..camera is not great!

I love this manicure and it definitely speaks rainbow to me! What’s your thoughts?

Week 8: Metallic Nails – #31DC2017Weekly

Hey guys! This weeks manicure theme for the #31DC2017Weekly manicure challenger is metallic nails! I’m still out of my groove a little and couldn’t think of anything to do..so I went simple & easy..just like last week.

I recently bought the color Taupe is Dope by Sinful Colors and I’ve been dying to use it..it’s a brown, plumy, gray color..very fall like. I thought it would go great with bronze for the metallic portion of the manicure. I used Nicole by OPI’s It Starts With Me. It’s a very shimmer shiny bronze.

I just applied taupe is dope to my thumb, index, and pinky nails..and then applied it starts with me to my middle & ring nails..then I used my dotting tools to do dots down the middle of a few nails.

It was that simple..hopefully next week’s will be more fun.

Week 7: Black & White Nails – #31DC2017Weekly

Hi guys! I’m back with another weekly manicure for the #31DC2017Weekly, manicure challenge. This weeks theme was black and white nails. I had to bounce around for ideas..I’m not one that likes to wear just black and white. I wasn’t in the creative mood either, so I went simple.

I decided to use yellow as a base color..yes I said yellow! I’m slowly trying to warm up to the color. I recently found this color called YOLO Yellow by Sinful Colors and I actually like it. It’s not too golden and not too pale for me.

For the black & white, I just took a black and a white nail striper and made vertical lines on my middle nails & chevron lines on my ring nails.

I just wasn’t together for this weeks manicure..gotta get back into my groove.
